WASHINGTON, D.C. — As campaign season heats up and presidential candidates release their immigration plans, the following is a statement from Ali Noorani, Executive Director of America is Better:

“Despite President Trump’s fearmongering, the majority of Americans believe immigration is good for America. Candidates have an opportunity to productively address Americans’ fears and anxieties, whether economic, cultural or security-driven.

“The immigration plans of candidates Joe Biden, Michael Bloomberg and Pete Buttigieg address these fears and anxieties and offer a detailed, positive vision of newcomers creating jobs, adding to the cultural vitality of our communities and helping law enforcement and our military keep us safe.

“Candidates who offer practical solutions and are willing to find middle ground will find broad swaths of voters open to their message.

“We support a constructive vision of immigration that outlines an orderly and controlled, but fair, immigration system. Rather than fear, we need unifying solutions that work for American workers and their families, for our economy and for immigrants.”
