Trump’s Ad Promotes Fear, Not American Values

WASHINGTON, D.C. — With his new TV ad, Donald Trump continues to try to exploit Americans’ anxieties rather than appeal to the values that make our country strong.

A Washington Post news article today calls Trump’s ad “a full embrace of the most incendiary of his proposals.”

“Allowing our fears to drive us apart is not what makes America great. In fact, our darkest moments have come when politicians, or aspiring politicians, sought to divide the nation by preying on Americans’ anxieties,” said Ali Noorani, executive director of the National Immigration Forum Action Fund. “Yes, our fears are real. We must thwart those who would do us harm. But that does not mean building walls, real or metaphorical.

“America’s greatness stems from our compassion. People desperate to build better lives in America embrace our freedom and strengthen it. America is better than Mr. Trump’s message.”
